What Start-ups need to know

Q: What is Collectiviti?

A: Collectiviti is a platform that connects the hottest tech start-ups in the UK with the best sales talent to help them achieve their growth potential

Q: Why would I not just go use the standard job boards?

A: Collectiviti is exclusively for tech start-ups looking for sales pros. Standard job boards are often way to generic.

Q: Can I not just use LinkedIn?

A: Sure, but the LinkedIn recruiter account is super expensive and not everyone on LinkedIn is in the market for a new sales role.

Q: Couldn’t I work with a recruitment consultant?

A: Yep, you could use a recruitment consultant, but it will set you back thousands of pounds.

Q: Is Collectiviti free?

A: It’s free to sign up, create a profile, add as many projects / job ads as you want and to send and receive connection requests to and from sales pros you want to start talking with.

Q: What do you charge for?

A: We charge you (the start-up) a referral fee of £39 per successful connection with a sales pro.

Q: Is that it? Is there any other charge?

A: That’s it, there is no other charge. Whether you decide to talk on the phone, go for lunch, speak on Skype, interview in person, hire or not, there is no other charge.

Q: What’s a successful connection?

A: A successful connection occurs when you send a connection request and it’s accepted by that same sales pro. Or a sales pro sends you a connection request and you decide to accept it.

Q: What happens after a successful connection has been made?

A: Once successfully connected, you can start a meaningful conversation with your prospective sales pro there and then. Get to know one-another and exchange further details. Arrange a Skype call or face to face interview. It’s really up to you how you want to handle it.

Q: What if I get a connection request from a sales pro but I don’t want to accept?

A: You can ‘reject’ the connection request, you won’t be charged and the sales pro gets a notification telling them it didn’t work out this time.

Q: What if I send a connection request to a sales pro but they don’t want to talk to us?

A: Sales pros can reject your connection request if they aren’t interested in speaking with you. You won’t be charged and you’ll get a notification telling you it didn’t work out this time.

Q: I’ve successfully connected to a sales pro and don’t want to receive any more connection requests for the moment, can I deactivate my projects?

A: Yep, you can pause your projects if you don’t want to keep receiving new connection requests.

Q: I’ve successfully connected to a number of sales pros but they didn’t turn out to be the right person for the job. What can I do now?

A: As with any hiring channel we can’t guarantee that every successful connection will turn into a hire. We’re giving you the channel to find the best available sales pros and a way to start a meaningful conversation from the very beginning of the hiring process.

Q: I’ve successfully connected to someone who turns out not to have the skills and experience s/he said s/he had. Can I get my money back?

A: In this case, please contact hello@collectiviti.org to report the incident with the name and email address of the sales pro in question. We will investigate the case and get in touch with you as soon as possible to sort out the details. If the sales pro in question acted fraudulently, we will ban the person in question from using the platform and reimburse the connection fee to you.

What Sales Pros need to know

Q: What is Collectiviti?

A: Collectiviti is a platform that connects the Sales talent like you and me with the hottest tech start-ups to help them achieve their growth potential

Q: Why would I not just go use the standard job boards?

A: Collectiviti is exclusively for sales pros like you, who are interested in working with the hottest tech start-ups. Standard job boards are often really generic.

Q: Can I not just use LinkedIn?

A: Sure you can, but advertising jobs on LinkedIn is super expensive so not all start-ups can advertise their jobs there

Q: Couldn’t I work with a recruitment consultant?

A: Yep, but you’ll be limited to the jobs this consultant has on his books and the conversation will always go through the consultant first. Also it’s really expensive so not a lot of start-ups chose to work with recruitment consultants.

Q: Is Collectiviti free?

A: Yes! Totally and 100% free for sales pros No BS, no hidden fees.

Q: What do you charge for?

A: We don’t charge sales pros anything. We charge the start-up user for a successful connection.

Q: So how does it work?

A: Sign up, complete your profile and start searching for start-up sales jobs you want to connect with. Be discovered by start-ups who are actively searching on Collectiviti. Send and receive connection requests. Accept / Reject requests and start- a meaningful conversation from the start of the process.

Q: Can I connect with as many start-up projects as I want?

A: Yep, there’s no limit. But please only connect with start-up projects you’re serious about. Remember that the start-up pays a referral fee of £39 for a successful connection, so be mindful of who you connect with. For example, if you live in Edinburgh and aren’t SERIOUSLY considering a move to London for a permanent role, then please don’t send a connection request for that role.

Q: When can I start a conversation with the Start-up?

A: You can start a real conversation with the hiring decision maker at the start-up when you and them have both accepted the connection request.

Q: What happens after a successful connection has been made?

A: Once successfully connected, you can start a meaningful conversation with your prospective employer. Get to know one-another and exchange further details. Arrange a Skype call or face to face interview. It’s really up to you how you want to handle it. If after all you decide you don’t want to go ahead, just let them know. There is no commitment.

Q: Does a successful connection mean I’ve got an interview?

A: Nope, it just means that both you and the hiring manager at the start-up are interested in starting a conversation to find out more about one-another.

Q: Does a successful connection mean I’ve got the job?

A: No, a successful connection does not warrant a job offer or employment contract and should never be misconstrued as such.

Q: What if I get a connection request from a start-up but I don’t want to accept?

A: You can ‘reject’ the connection request. The start-up then gets a notification telling them it didn’t work out this time.

Q: What if I send a connection request to a start-up but they don’t want to talk to me?

A: Start-ups can reject your connection request if they aren’t interested in speaking with you. You’ll get a notification telling you it didn’t work out this time.

Q: I’ve now found a new role and I’m not interested in getting any more connection requests. Can I freeze my account?

A: Yep, send us a quick message to hello@collectiviti.org requesting your account to be unlisted.

Q: I’ve successfully connected to a number of start-up projects but none of them worked out. What can I do now?

A: As with any hiring channel we can’t guarantee that every successful connection will turn into a Job. We’re giving you the channel to find, connect and engage with the hottest tech start-ups in the country. But it’s up to them to ultimately decide whether they want to hire you or not.

Q: How can I make sure I get as many connection requests as possible from different start-ups?

A: Make your profile super relevant, with a job title that start-ups will search for, a killer bio, a photo of you, and realistic salary / day rate / commission expectations. Incomplete profiles won't be listed and you won't appear in search. I've put together 10 top tips to create a killer profile that will get you noticed and connected.

Q: I think there is a fake account pretending to be a start-up, what can I do?

A: Please, please, please report this to hello@collectiviti.org. We will investigate the case and ban the user if we have reason to believe they are acting fraudulently. Recruitment consultants are strictly prohibited from the site and if you think you’ve found a recruitment consultant, please report them to us.
